Control the Timeout for LMHOST Name Resolution (Windows 95/98/Me)

This setting controls the period of time the system will wait before timing out when seeking LMHOSTS for name resolution.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new string value (or DWORD value for Windows 95) called "LmhostsTimeout" and set it to equal the timeout period in milliseconds, the minimum value is 1000 (1 second).

Restart Windows for the change to take effect.

Settings:
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP]
Name: LmhostsTimeout
Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value: Time in milliseconds (Default = 10,000)
